This is a novel predictive of the coming decades. The story of the settlement of Mars and the creation of its new government is told through the lives of a number of young people from around the world. Their adventures create friends and enemies as the years pass. The story, ranging across Europe, South America and Asia, includes
intrigue, love and violence as the careers of these young people intertwine
and they each contribute to the exploration and settlement of the planet. The book arises out of first, experience in working with a group of young international scientists, and, second, from research done for the International Atomic Energy Agency on the past, present and future uses of nuclear propulsion and heating in space. The novel is fiction though the locations are real. The science too is real and with political will the settlement of Mars too could be real.
