Tom Roberts

Thomas Roberts was born in Dorchester, Dorset, in 1856, and arrived in Australia in 1869. He died in 1931.He is probably the best known artist in Australia, painting scenes along the coast and in the outback.

Bailed in, showing the loading of a stage is Roberts's most famous painting. It hangs in the Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Painted 1888-90.
