Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres

1780 - 1867

Ingres painted portraits throughout his life and very rarely diverged. However as he grew older he became interested in figures and painted two versions of the nude Odalisue. He culminated in painting "The Turkish Bath" a melange of female figures when he was 82.

The gallery has a nice collection of studies that are works of art in their own right.
