Leonardo Da Vinci

Da Vinci, born near the town of Vinci in northern Italy in April 1452, once, in applying for a job, described himself as "an engineer, a mathematician, an anatomist, an artist and a musician." History says that he was hired "as that." Actually, he was far more than that since he also studied geology, astronomy, design, military designs and more. He was, in sum, the personification of a Renaissance person. He died in France in May 1519.

He lived in Milan for two periods and perhaps accomplished his greatest work there.

He never declared himself, nor was there ever evidence that he was, a singer. However, this statue, in Milan, faces the opera house of La Scala. You can visit his other creations in Milan by clicking here.
